# Your first project and teammate

> Install Gatetrix MTS, connect a teammate, and complete a small task with visible progress.

You need an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 13.5 or newer. For an embedded
teammate, you also need a compatible Codex installation and ChatGPT account with
Codex access. Your existing eligible subscription works through **Sign in with
ChatGPT**; the embedded integration does not use API-key billing. You can
[add multiple accounts](/mts/accounts). MTS does not bundle the Codex runtime. The packaged app does not
require a separate Node installation.

To use a different coding agent without the embedded Codex integration, follow
[Connect an external agent](/mts/connections#connect-an-external-agent-to-mts).

<Steps>
  <Step title="Install MTS and create a project">
    Download [Gatetrix MTS](https://gatetrix.ai/download/mts/), install it in
    Applications, and open it. Create a project from the welcome screen or project
    menu. A new project starts with Features, Bugs, and Improvements collections.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a teammate">
    Under **Team**, choose **Add team member…**. Give the member a name,
    instructions, and the project's working folder. Choose its allowed actions
    in MTS and review its execution access for coding work.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect the runtime and account">
    Enable **Agent access**, open the teammate's chat, and choose
    **Sign in with ChatGPT**. MTS detects common Codex installation locations.
    If needed, open **Codex setup…** in the member's menu to review its runtime
    installation and connection settings.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create one small task">
    Add an entry to a collection with a concrete outcome. Move it into the Roadmap
    and mark it as a task. For a first trial, use a bounded task such as reviewing
    your project's setup instructions and identifying one missing prerequisite.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ask your teammate to work on it">
    Attach the selected entry to the conversation and ask the teammate to follow
    the task's workflow. It should read the scope, claim the task, and record
    meaningful progress in Work.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review the result">
    Open **Work** to inspect the current step, summary, outputs, and questions.
    Reply to ordinary questions in chat or Work. A step with an explicit approval
    requirement must be decided with **Approve** or **Request changes**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What success looks like

The teammate produces the requested result, records it in Work, and follows the
configured steps. The conversation explains the work; the task record keeps the
current outcome and next action easy to find.

## Use voice when helpful

The microphone beside **Send** supports experimental dictation. **Stop** inserts
the transcript into your editable draft; the send control finishes transcription
and sends the message. Allow microphone access when macOS asks.

Audio is streamed to OpenAI. Voice availability depends on the signed-in account
and its limits. You can always type your request instead.

If the teammate cannot connect, check agent access, the selected runtime, account
sign-in, and the availability of its working folder. See [Troubleshooting](/support).
