# Privacy and data collection

> Learn what Gatetrix keeps locally, when its apps contact our services, and when connected providers process data.

Gatetrix is a suite of local-first macOS apps. You do not currently need to
create a Gatetrix account to use Access, d0, or MTS. Their application state is
stored on your Mac. **We do not currently collect app usage telemetry or
analytics from these apps.**

This describes the apps' current behavior. The [Privacy Policy](https://gatetrix.ai/privacy/)
covers the broader details, including the website and service providers.

## Requests to Gatetrix services

| Purpose | Destination | What happens |
| - | - | - |
| Check for updates | `updates.gatetrix.com` | Sparkle checks the app's release feed. Update-check settings determine when it checks. |
| Download an update | `downloads.gatetrix.com` | The updater downloads a release archive when an update is downloaded. |
| Send feedback | `feedback.gatetrix.ai/v1/feedback` | Only when you submit feedback: the message, category, optional reply email, app version/build, platform, OS version, and a submission ID are sent. |

Update checks/downloads and submitted feedback are the current Mac apps' own
service requests. These requests necessarily expose ordinary connection metadata,
such as your IP address, to the hosting service. They do not mean that your
workspace content is uploaded for app analytics.

Connector secrets, local files, audit logs, and connected account content are
not sent to Gatetrix by default. Feedback includes what you choose to write;
avoid pasting secrets or private customer data into it.

## Connected services and AI providers

Local-first does not mean every feature works offline or every request stays
on your Mac:

* **Access** contacts the services you connect, including sign-in and API calls.
An agent receives the results of the tools it uses.
* **d0** requests permitted public data and can use Access for connected data.
* **MTS** uses your Codex runtime and account for embedded agent work. Prompts,
tool results, and relevant context can be processed by OpenAI. Dictation
streams audio to OpenAI when you use it.
* External agents use their own providers and data-handling settings. Apple
services and operating-system networking are separate from Gatetrix telemetry.

You may need a provider account for a connected service or an eligible ChatGPT
account for MTS's built-in Codex integration. That is separate from a Gatetrix
account. See [MTS accounts](/mts/accounts) and [Data and permissions](/data-and-permissions).
